Elhaida Dani announced on a long message via her official Facebook page the author of the song ”Diell” (Sun), has withdrawn from competing in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. The news was confirmed by the Albanian Radio and Television (RTSH).
In her message which comes in both Albanian and Italian, among other things, she said that she still is going to be the representative of Albania but with another song. You can read her full message below:
"I think it's only fair to personally communicate the decision that has more recently been communicated to me.
This year I will represent Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest with another song than the one with which he was declared as winner of the FiK in December last year.This news will become officially published soon, but I wanted to be the first to tell you right after it was communicated to me.The author of the song ”Diell” (Sun) , for personal and irreversible reasons, has decided to pull the song out of the competition and will unfortunately it will not be possible for me to perform it in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. In respect his own personal choice and in cooperation with RTSH (Albanian Broadcaster) and above of all, in respect with the rules set by the ESC, it was communicated to me that as the winner of FiK, I will still be representing my country in Vienna but with a new song.
It’s deepest wish that this sudden decision, just made known to me, will not bring disappointment and controversy;
The goal remains the same, that Albania gaining as good as possible a result and that we all will work as much as possible to achieve it. "
The authors of the new song are expected to be Zzapp & Chriss, the same ones that wrote the song "S’të fal" (Can’t forgive you) sung by Lindita Halimi, song that achieved the third prize at the Festival of RTSH. This is the first time ever, that Albania will be competing with other than a FiK song.
